14 – The Old Man From The Countryside Takes A Walk

“That will be all for today,” I said, announcing the end of training.
“Thank you for your cooperation, everyone.”

“Thank you for your instruction!!” the Knights cheerfully shout back.

Like me, they’re all sweating.
I left the training grounds thinking it would be better to head back to the inn and take a bath.

From that point on, I went to the training grounds almost every day, as a special instructor for the Knights of Revelio.

I was originally scheduled for several lessons a month, but since Father kicked me out of Bidden, I had nowhere else to go.

Alexia was surprisingly happy to hear it.

Next was Kuruni.

And after that was, surprisingly, the Vice-Captain, Sir Henblitz.

“Sir Beryl!” Henblitz said.
“Thank you for your hard work!”

“Oh, ah,” I said, “you’re welcome, Henblitz.
You seem to be giving your all every day, huh?”

It was immediately after I left the training grounds.
Henblitz had run up to me from behind and stopped me.

There was an unused towel in his hands.
Apparently, it’s for me.

After that mock combat, he seemed to have set matching me as one of his goals, and thus he started following me around during and after training.

I didn’t know what he was doing as Vice-Captain, but like Alexia, he also seemed quite free.

I mean, I only found this out shortly after going here regularly, but the Knights of Rvelio have regular patrols and meetings, but everyone not on active duty spends their free time as they please.

“I’ve set high goals for myself, Sir Beryl,” Henblitz said as I wiped my face with the towel.
“Every day is fulfilling.”

“… I see, that’s great to hear,” I replied.

“But I still can’t move like you, Sir Beryl,” Henblitz said.
“I still haven’t trained enough.”

“Hahaha, you can do it, I’m sure you’ll be able to someday,” I said.

Yeah, it seems I missed something.

I’m not in trouble, but I’m still not used to these unexpected reactions so far.
I’m still not convinced that I’ve become an instructor for the Knights, even.

“Master! Vice-Captain! Thank you for your hard work!”

“Hi, Kuruni,” I said.
“… Good work today.”

And as I was having a rambling conversation with Henblitz, there was another one.
Kuruni, a member of the Knights and former disciple of mine, looked at my face.

It was clear Kuruni was sweating, too.

Without its armor plates, her training outfit was rather plain but the sweat soaking her clothes made it cling to her skin, I was compelled to look away.

Petite but healthy, her feminine curves are emphasized.
This is bad.

“Are you used to capital life, Master?” Kuruni asked.

Whether or not she detected my feelings, Kuruni leans in as she asks.

Stop, don’t close the distance.
I’m going to be in trouble if I see anything.

“Well, I’m used to it.
Though, I don’t go out much except around here,” I said, looking away to the side.

Like I mentioned, it’s basically just a round-trip between the Knight Order’s Headquarters and the inn, so although I’m used to it now, I can hardly grasp the layout of anywhere outside of that route.

Well, it wasn’t much of a problem, almost every day was a training day, so I said I didn’t have much time or reason to go sightseeing.

“That’s a shame,” Henblitz said, picking up on my muttering, “because Baltrain also has several tourist attractions.”

Hmm, maybe it is as he says.

Speaking of Baltrain, the capital of the Revelios Kingdom, it’s also famous as the largest city in the country.
I hear that each area is divided into 5 districts with their own characteristics and that there are plenty of tourists from the countryside and foreign nations.

“In that case, I’ll show you around!” Kuruni said, looking excited about it.

Mnn, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being excited to go sightseeing in the city, but let’s just say that it’s Kuruni’s good nature showing itself here.
She’s dedicated to everything, even to guiding tourists.

“Haha, I’m in your care, then,” I said.
“But, after changing clothes, alright?”

“Right!” Kuruni said.
“I’m already all sweaty!”

It’s still a little too early to go back to the inn and rest.

I had little to do with Kuruni except for discipline, as I often worked with Alexia for some reason until I settled down in Baltrain.

“Kuruni, don’t be rude to Sir Beryl,” Henblitz said as I left.

The woman in question enthusiastically said, “Roger, roger!” and disappeared into the shadows of the changing room.

Now then, I’ll go change once I get back.

“Master!” Kuruni cried.
“Have I kept you waiting?”

“No, no, I wasn’t waiting long,” I said.

After all, with me as a man and Kuruni as a woman, I could change clothes faster.

“”

When I was waiting in front of the Headquarters and feeling a bit out of sorts, I saw Kuruni running up to me, now changed into more comfortable clothes.

After strolling around the city with Kuruni today, I’d like to stop by a restaurant I’d never been to.
It’s the capital city of Baltrain, so it wouldn’t hurt to go sightseeing like I was a normal tourist.

“By the way,” Kuruni asked, “have you come to Baltrain a lot, Master?”

“No, I’ve only been here a few times for so long,” I said.
“Not so much these days.”

As I said, the last time I was here was a long time ago.

There was a dojo in my hometown of Bidden, so there was no reason to take half a day and a horse-drawn carriage to the capital.

As I thought, the royal palace of Reveris hadn’t changed but other than that, I can hardly remember the city.

However, now I have a temporary residence in the capital.

As for the special instructor job I got from Alexia, the wage wasn’t half-bad.
I could spend some time and money.

“Well then, let’s head to the West District!” Kuruni cried.

“I’ll leave the escorting to you,” I said.
“I’m looking forward to it.”

We head to the West District in a horse-drawn carriage that does rounds about the city.

As I get older, a casual walk like this can be a nice distraction.
It’s nice to enjoy this quietly by yourself but if you’ve got a lively companion, it’s also nice.

“The West District is mainly commercial areas,” Kuruni said.
“There are a lot of shops.”

I listened to her as I looked out at the landscape.

Yep, I think this is a beautiful city.

Baltrain, capital of the Kingdom of Revelis, is divided into the North, South, East, West, and Central Districts, the last of which was where the Knight Order’s HQ and the Adventurer’s Guild are both located.

According to Kuruni, the West District seemed to be where commerce thrived, and it seemed that the shops ranged from grocery stores to restaurants to general goods stores, blacksmiths, and enchanted equipment stories.

“The South District is an agricultural zone,” Kuruni continued, “so there might not be anything to see there.
The royal palace is in the North District and the East District is mostly residential areas.
I also live there in the East.”

“I see,” I said.
“Is the West District popular with tourists?”

“Mmm,” Kuruni said.
“The West District is also popular but I think the most popular district is the North.
The royal palace is there after all.”

As I was walking around the West District after getting off the carriage, Kuruni explained various things.

Well, if you ask me, the royal palace is probably a country’s best feature.
I don’t think ordinary tourists can get inside but it’s enough to see it at a glance.

I can see various shops and people going around just by scanning the cityscape.
The liveliness that makes a city plays out before my eyes.
It’s refreshing to be able to just look around while walking on a road I didn’t normally go through.

Mmm, I feel like such an old man.

It may be rude to Kuruni, but unlike celebrities like Alexia and Selena, Kuruni is just an ordinary knight.
No one has bothered to even spare a glance at her, who’s still developing both her reputation and her body.

And me, I’m unmistakably an old man you’d find anywhere.

Well, it’s nice to be able to walk without worrying about people staring at us.

“Oh, Master Beryl,” someone asked.

“… Hmm?”

As I passed by various people, I sometimes got taken by the sightseeing and Kuruni’s commentary.

Then, a flat voice suddenly reached my ears.

Was it just my imagination, or did I just get called out to just now…?

When I stopped and looked in the direction, there was a woman in a robe who seemed to be returning home from this district.
Her glossy black hair was cut all to her shoulders and she looks at my face with a vague expression, she looks like trouble.

“Hmm.
After all.
It has been a long time,” she said.

“Master, what are you doing?” Kuruni says, popping up by my side after I stopped.
“Do you two know each other?”

The black-haired woman doesn’t care about Kuruni and just stared at my face.

Umm.

Who is this?
