Black Spire

5 Violet Moon

The stranger was about 4 feet tall causing his long blue robe to drag on the ground. The stranger pulled back his hood to reveal a green face. It was the same as the 4 creatures he just killed. Although this one had a gold monocle over its left eye. It currently had a large toothy smile that only a mother could love. the man kept his sword ready.

The stranger then said ”Very good to meet you sir. See I am a merchant and I couldn help but notice that you have been poisoned. I could give you a remedy for, ” before the creature could finish, the man threw him his purse filled with gold. ”Will that be enough? ” He asked. The stranger opened the purse. his eyes practically lit up at the beautiful sight inside. ”Most certainly ” he replied.

The stranger then reached into his robe. The man tensed up fearing he would pull out a weapon and kill him on the spot. Instead he pulled out a flask filled with a clear liquid. He tossed it to the man. The man popped the cork off looking inside. The liquid had a slight sparkle to it. ”Please don be more poison ” he prayed in his head as he chugged it down.

It had a slight salty taste to it. After a few seconds his vision began to come back to him. The fuzzy feeling in his body also disappeared. Although he no longer felt weak, he still had a stab wound in his side.

”Have anything that could fix this, ” he said while pointing to his bleeding side. The stranger pulled from his robe a flask this time filled with a red liquid. ”It will cost. ” Before he could finish the man answered with ”ah, never mind I have my own. ” He then pulled out his own red flask and downed it. Now the stranger had a slightly annoyed and confused frown. ”Why did he ask if he already had his own? ” The stranger thought.

The wound on his side quickly healed. Now he was back at 100%. He could finally focus on the person in front of him. Although he did just help him, he still looked like the creatures that just tried to kill him. He couldn bring himself to fully trust him yet.

The stranger threw back his purse. The man could feel it was slightly lighter implying the stranger already took his pay for the antidote. The man said ”you seem very similar to the creatures that just tried to kill me. What makes you different? ” The stranger replied ”Im surprised youve never heard of a goblin before. In our religion only the richest goblins get into uthrag. Some goblins kill and pillage for money. While others like me prefer the life of a merchant. ”

The answer was enough for the man to relax. ”I suppose I should properly introduce myself. My name it Urag and I am a member of the Merchants Guild. Anywhere there is coin, you will find us is the guilds motto. ” The man replied with ”my name is uh, never mind. ” ”What do you not remember your own name. ” The goblin couldn be more right. Urag was the first person that he could speak to so he felt a lot of trust towards him. Especially after he saved his life with the antidote and returned his money. The man decided to tell him everything that happened.

”Wow thats a doozy, ” Urag said. Although the story was hard to believe it did make sense. ”Do you even know how much gold your carrying. ” The man shook his head. Urag felt bad for him so he decided to help him a bit. ”Before the antidote you had 52 gold. It cost 10 gold so you now have 42. ” He went on to explain the different value each coin had.

”Its annoying to just keep referring to you with you. Do you mind if I just give you a name. ” The man thought about it for a minute. He finally decided by nodding. ”Alright how about Robert. It was the name of an old friend of mine. ” the man liked the sound of Robert. It wasn too extravagant nor too ordinary.

Now that the complicated things were out of the way Urag said ”I should get back to my main point in being here. Aside from the antidote, is there anything you need. ” Robert thought about it for a while before replying with ”what do you think would help me the most. ”

Urag grinned as he pulled out a thick book and red flask from his robe. ”This book is called Tooth and Claw. It has information on nearly all living things ever discovered, even if a bit generic in its descriptions. As you can already tell this city has no shortage of monsters. It can help you identify them and how to deal with them. The flask you already know is a healing potion. While it can regrow a limb. It can save you in a pinch. It never hurts to have one. the book is 30 gold while the potion is 10. 40 in total.

Both of them would help him greatly. He bought both of them in a heartbeat. Now he only had 2 gold left. Urag said ”Thurag nareem. ” Robert found it strange and asked ”What does that mean? ” With a adjustment of his monocle he told him ”It means a good deal in goblin. Its similar to the human handshake. ” Robert attempted saying it but only managed ”thuhag Nireme. ” Urag couldn help but chuckle.

The sun was beginning to set turning the sky a shade of pink. ”Its about time I get going. Hopefully by the will of Usrag we will meet again. ” He pulled the hood back up and crept into the alley disappearing in the shadows.

Now he was alone again. With night quickly approaching he needed somewhere to sleep and would
t be attacked. Who knows what creatures will be lurking in the dark.
