There were many guests at the funeral.
Not only because of the Song’s but also the Lu’s.

Song Ya, Mother Lu, was the second child of the Song’s and she had an older brother, Song Jinye, and a sister, Song Rou.
With their mother passing away suddenly, all three of them were sad and their eyes swollen.

Father Lu stood by his wife the entire time.
He recalled the servant telling him about his son being sick and was a little worried.
He called Dr.
Jin and confirmed multiple times with him that Lu Jue was running a fever from being in the rain.
He asked Dr.
Jin to keep him posted on Lu Jue’s status.

Father Lu received a call from the butler as soon as he had ended the previous phone call.

Over the phone, the butler told him, “Sir, Young Master Lu Jue is coming over.”

Father Lu looked solemn as usual, “You brought him with?”

“Yes, the Young Master said he wanted to send the Old Madam off.”

Father Lu went silent for a little bit before he said, “Mmm.”

He didn’t have the butler take Lu Jue back home.

Father Lu walked back over to his wife.
She had been up all night and she looked pale and disheveled.
His heart ached for her and he said, “Xiao Jue came with the butler.”

Mother Lu was taken aback a little.

Father Lu went on to say, “It was Xiao Jue’s idea to come.”

Mother Lu’s eyes were filled with tears and she wept quietly.

Lu Shenyuan had been with his parents.
When he heard what Father Lu had said, he said hesitantly, “Little brother wants to come? That makes sense.
He should see Grandmother off as well.
Is he here already? I’ll go get him.”

Next to them, when Song Jinye, Mother Lu’s older brother heard what Lu Shenyuan had said, he asked angrily, “Why is he here?”

Song Jinye displaced all of his anger onto Lu Jue.
“He can’t be here.”

“Don’t say that, Big Brother.” Song Ruo, too, was sad but she wasn’t displacing her anger like her Big Brother.
She turned to look at her sister and knew that her sister was feeling worse than her.

“And why can’t I say that? If only Lu Jue’s has a slightly better brain and knew to save people, our mother would not be laying there right now,” said Song Jinye angrily as though he wanted to shift all of his anger and sadness to Lu Jue.

“Big Brother, you know about Xiao Jue’s illness.
He wouldn’t even save himself if he’s in danger.
How would he know to save someone else?” Mother Lu stood up and her eyes were red.
She couldn’t bare her brother placing the blame onto her son.

“I don’t care what you say.
Mom died because of Lu Jue.
I am sure she wouldn’t want him here.” Song Jinye insisted as though he needed to find someone to blame for his mother’s sudden death just to make himself feel better.

Mother Lu did not want to get into a fight with her Big Brother at times like this but, listening to her Big Brother, she suddenly realized that she was thinking the same thing.

She did not scold or her but those were her thoughts.
If only her son was a normal person.
If only he didn’t have autism.
That way, he would know to get help during her mother’s episode and perhaps her mother could be saved.

She, too, was blaming her son for it.

Having thought of that, Mother Lu’s nose tingled and her eyes suddenly reddened.
She rebutted Song Jinye.
“Nobody wanted to see Mom gone nor could we had foreseen it.
It wasn’t Xiao Jue’s fault; it was ours.”

Mother Lu cried and said, “We, as normal people, weren’t able to guard our Mom.
As such, why would we want to blame that on an innocent child and shift our responsibilities to him? Lu Jue didn’t know what was going on.
He just took it silently when we scolded and blamed him.
He didn’t even know to defend himself.

“Big Brother, if we must place blame, then it was you, me, and little sister.
We had failed to take good care of Mom.”

Song Jinye looked unhappy and he remained silent.
