327: The Accomplice Appears

Airon got the credit for killing the murderer so his reputation rose in everyone’s hearts.
It had been hard having a knife hanging over their heads, but now with the pressure gone, they were able to think about how to get off the island.

They had no boats and their communication was cut off, but fortunately, Yanaimo’s parents loved her deeply.
The lack of communication from her would make them worry and as soon as they became worried, they would send someone to investigate.

Ming Xi had kept Airon from revealing the fact that there were potentially other suspects on the island.
The illusion was still intact, so there had to be more to the matter.
They had to keep investigating.

However, instead of trying to find the murderer, Ming Xi decided to find the key to the tomb first.

Everyone on the island had lost their abilities.
It wasn’t something easily done by ordinary means.
And they were definitely not poisoned, so the only possibility was a magic item.

The first thing that came to mind, was of course, the key.

They needed to confirm if the key was gone or not.
If it was gone, then they knew the accomplices were still hidden deep on the island.

Airon secretly took Ming Xi and Jier to the cave he and Yanimo’s group had initially fled from.
Back then they hadn’t been able to go inside because of the restriction array and were forced back after suffering minor injuries.

The entrance was well hidden and obscured by rocks and plants.
It would have been impossible to find without a map.

Luckily Airon’s memory was good.
Even without the map, he was able to navigate successfully.
The group entered the shallow cave and quickly found the switch to open the room with the key.

They were able to enter because the restriction had lost most of its effect.
The effect’s diminished powers meant the key was probably gone.
Sure enough the key was gone and the room was empty.

Their suspicions were confirmed; there were accomplices.
With that, their faces turned grim and they returned to the castle.

Airon couldn’t keep calm knowing there was someone intent on killing him.

That night Ming Xi had Liana chose two people to guard Airon while the rest met in Feng Wu’s room to discuss what to do next.

That night, a scream cut through the air.
Airon was dead, along with the two people sent to guard him.
The two guards had been the commander and deputy commander from Hart’s group.
Both of them had been stabbed to death, but Airon was chopped to pieces.
He died quite miserably.

Yanaimo couldn’t withstand the shock of seeing the boy she loved dead.
She screamed before collapsing to the ground.
Her maid had to help her back to her room to rest, then left quietly after tucking her in.

No one noticed the closet door slowly opening before a petite figure stepped out.
The girl wasn’t beautiful, but she had a gentle appearance that made others naturally like her.
The sword in her hand flashed with murderous intentions.
Her eyes were filled with hatred so palpable it was almost solid enough to pierce Yanaimo.

She laid the sword down then proceeded to tie up Yanaimo.
Yanaimo was completely at her mercy; it was like Yanaimo was unconscious.

Yanaimo’s limbs were tied and her mouth gagged.

It was only after all this was complete that Yanaimo woke up.
She broke out in a cold sweat.

The more someone possessed, the more reluctant they were to die, and Yanaimo possessed many things, so how could she willingly die so young?

She struggled desperately in an attempt to escape.
But it was useless; she couldn’t break free from her restraints.
She wept in despair as her heart cried out for help, but sadly no one could hear.

“It’s useless.
Originally, I wanted to keep you for a few more days, but that won’t work out.
There are already some who are suspicious, so I have to kill you before they find me.” The girl touched the sword.
She looked like an angel but the words coming out of her mouth were demonic.

Don’t worry about me not playing with you anymore, I’ll send everyone on the island to accompany you.
You were thinking of killing everyone from the start anyways right?” The girl’s smile was creepy as she giggled.

Yanaimo shook her head, unable to accept that this girl, her maid, knew her plan.
Only the twelve of them knew.
There was no way anyone else could have known.

“Are you wondering how I know?”

“Woo. . . ” Yanaimo could only make a whining sound through the gag.

“There are secret passageways all around the castle.
What secrets do I not know? Are you wondering why there are so many secret passageways? Did you forget? You designed this castle but I made changes before submitting it.”

The moon shone on the maid’s face.
She wasn’t a close servant, but she wasn’t a nameless lackey either.
She was in a good mood when she saw the myriad array of emotions play across Yanaimo’s face: sadness, fear, and despair.
She was in such a good mood, she decided to play with her sword.

With a whoosh, and without warning, she severed Yanaimo’s arm.

Yanaimo wanted to scream, but she was gagged.
She could only endure the pain as blood squirted from the stump of her arm.
The blood dyed the bed red.
It slowly dripped to the floor after the bed soaked through and could no longer act as a sponge.

“Does it hurt? Did you ever think about how painful it was for all the villagers you killed on this island?” The girl seemed to remember something as a flicker of madness danced in her eyes.
